 My name is Hunter Mulder. The roots of Somm's Palate runs deep, intertwined with my own journey through life, passion, and profession. Growing up in a family that cherished good food and drink, I found myself drawn to the vibrant energy of the restaurant and bar industry from a young age. My weekends were often spent helping out at my family's kitchen, or managing a fast food restaurant. This early exposure ignited a passion for hospitality and flavor that would shape my future.

As I transitioned into my college years, I balanced my studies with part-time work in various restaurants and bars, managing both. I pursued a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science, a path that promised stability and a clear career trajectory. After graduation, I became a network engineer, diving into the tech world for many years in Silicon Valley. While I excelled in my role, I often found myself daydreaming about the kitchen, the clinking of wine glasses, and the joyful connections made over a shared meal.

Eventually, the call of my culinary passion became too strong to ignore. With resolve, I returned to my roots and enrolled in culinary school, embracing the opportunity to refine my skills and explore the world of gastronomy. It was during this transformative time that I discovered my love for wine and its intricate relationship with food. I began my studies as a Sommelier, immersing myself in the complexities of wine tasting, pairing, and selection.

I’m proud to say I am a WSET Level II graduate, currently working towards my Level III certification. My journey has led me to work as a private chef, where I create exquisite food and wine pairings, delighting clients with tailored experiences that celebrate the joy of dining. Each dish I prepare is a testament to the skills I’ve honed and the flavors I adore.

As I continue to grow in this vibrant industry, I am navigating the intricate maze of licensure to obtain wholesale, import, and retail licenses. My goal is to expand Somm's Palate into a beloved local hotspot, where patrons can indulge in a unique and unforgettable wine experience. 

From my humble beginnings in the restaurant world to the dynamic creation of Somm's Palate, my journey has been one of passion, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to the art of food and wine.
